Game 2: Peterson leads Reds to Game 2 Win


Jeremey Peterson drove in the winning run in the bottom of the 7th inning to give the Reds a 7-6 victory over the Grays in the 2011 Reno High Fall World Series. The Grays had taken a 3-0 lead in the top of the first rinning when Austin Atkerson drove in 2 runs with a single to left field. The Reds responded however by scoring 2 runs in the bottom of the 1st as Garrett Hampson and Connor Bush both scored after getting a BB and HBP respectively. This same dynamic duo, Hampson and Bush, were also responsible for getting two more runs in the 2nd inning as Hampson singled in Adam Leinen. Bush then drove in Michael Riedeman and Garrett Hampson with a double to deep left field. The Grays then took a 6-5 lead by scoring 3 runs in the top of the 5th inning. This rally started when Grant Kukuk led off the inning with a double. Max Keller drew a 2 out walk which led to a double RBI by sophome Joe Bath. Freshman Orlando Lorang then doubled and gave the Grays a 6-5 lead going into the bottom of the 6th inning. Lorang also turned in the Defensive Play of the Day as he made a diving catch double play late in the game. The Reds then took advantage of a lot of freebies in th 6th an 7th inning as Kurt Hillson (HBP), Connor Bush (BB), and RJ Bush (BB ) all ended up scoring. Game MVP’s were Jeremy Peterson for the Reds and Krant Kukuk for the Grays.
