Jameson Dominates on Mound and Plate for Reds in Game #2

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

Tom Jameson turned in a 4-4 day at the plate to lead the Red squad to a 8-5 victory over the Blues. Jameson had 3 doubles and a towering home run as he drove in 5 RBI. Other productive players for the Reds were Colton Hampson and Shawn Walters. Jameson also pitched effectively as he threw 3 strong innings and struck out 4 hitters. Freshman Daniel Young also was effective on the mound for the Reds.

The Blues were once again led by the power of Pat Gallagher. He hit his 3rd home run of the Fall World Series as he crushed a 3-2 fastball down and away out of the park over the left-center field fence. Zach Sanford pitched well for the Blues. He was relieved by left-handed relief specialist, Scooter Stewart and right-hander Mike Warden.

Borsum leads Red team to victory in Game 1 of 2008 World Series

Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

In a game that began with dominating pitching, it all came down to timely hitting and defense to win game 1 at Zunini Field on Saturday afternoon. Junior pitcher-outfielder Scott Borsum hit a double to deep left field that allowed Zach Paquette to finally score the winning run, 9-8. On the day, Borsum turned in a good pitching performance but his biggest production came at the plate. He finished the game with 3 hits in 6 at-bats. He had two doubles and a triple. For his efforts, Scott was named the MVP of the world series game. The first six innings was dominated by Blue starting pitcher, Garrett Winkelmaier and Blue first baseman, Pat Gallagher. Winkelmaier held the Red team to only one run and Gallagher hit two towering home runs. At the end of sixth innings, the Blue team held a 4-1 lead and were three outs away from an easy victory. The Red team rallied for 7 runs in the top of the 7th inning. Zach Nyman started the rally with a drag bunt single. After Colton Hampson drew a walk, then game MVP Scott Borsum doubled in a run. Shawn Walters followed with a single. A big part of the rally happened when Daniel Young, Michael Elam, and Zach Paquette all had huge extra base hits. The Blue team then had to respond as they now were down, 8-4. They were able to score four runs to tie the game after 2 walks, 2 Red errors, and 4 hits. Joe Muller almost scored the game ending run but was throw out at the plate. It was a wild day marked by irate football fans, great hitting, shaky defense, and some dominating pitching. The stage was set for Game 2 as Tom Jameson will be the starting pitcher for the Red team and Zach Sanford will be the starting pitcher for the Blue team.
